Alec in his new Red Sox jersey his cousin Nick brought him!
(written by his mother Angie) Been another long day but things are still looking pretty good considering.....
Been really a rest day for him. He has really wanted to wake up today and isn't happy about the tube when he does. His color is much better and still has good circulation in his right foot. They changed the dressing on his leg today and I decided to stay so I knew what I was dealing with.....quite honestly one of the hardest things I've ever done but good too. So so hard and seriously I don't have words for what it looks like. Literally looks like a shark just took the entire back of his leg from the thigh to the ankle!!
His blood pressure has been pretty high today and they are watching it closely.
He will be going in for surgery around 9 in the morning to evaluate the tissue viability and stuff in his leg. Don't stop praying......he needs it! We love you all and thank you so much for your love and support
Alec had a pretty good night. Kidneys seem to be functioning really well, he is very swollen but that is to be expected with all the fluid they are giving him. He had two more units of blood and will probably be getting another one shortly. Ultra sound on his spleen looks good, less blood than yesterday. He woke up a couple times and was not happy about that, ventilation tube in his throat really bothers him. But he could move both of his feet and hands, then they put him right back out. Keep praying, we are not out of the woods but at least headed in the right direction. Thank you for all the love and support, means so much to all of us!
P.S. He is going to be super mad that his Red Sox won the world series without him!

The white Forerunner is Alec's cousin Nick's car whom he was helping when the accident took place. The silver truck is the car we presume hit Alec.

Alec is now at University of Utah Hospital. He is currently on a ventilator and stable. To fix the aorta problem the doctors put in a stint that will stay in his heart for the remainder of his life, this shouldn't cause him any discomfort or problems. They are keeping him sedated anywhere from 24-48 hours to give his body some time to calm down. There is an ENT (Ear Nose and Throat specialist) coming in to work on his tongue tomorrow which at this point we do not know the extent of the damage there. One of his front teeth is only slightly chipped. The biggest concerns right now are infection and internal bleeding which they will monitor very closely. Please continue to pray for Alec and our family.
On October 30, 2013 Alec "Mickey" McMorris watched as he followed his cousin up Parley's Canyon for his job hit black ice and spin out of control. Pulling past this accident and parking, Alec heroically ran back to see if his cousin was okay. After he made sure his cousin Nick was okay, his cousin got back in his car that was against the guardrail to get his phone. Within 30 seconds of this, another car hit the same black ice, spun out of control, hit head on with his cousin Nick's car and proceeded to go over the guardrail where Alec only had a split second to try and jump out of the way. What the highway patrolmen presume happened next is the truck clipped Alec's leg as he tried to jump, severely damaging this leg, and sent him flying roughly 20 feet. Alec's cousin and a nurse that happened to be driving down the canyon put a tourniquet (Nick's belt) around his leg to stunt the bleeding. His right leg is severely  damaged with 4 inches of his femur bone missing. He has major tissue damage in his leg, a lacerated spleen and kidney, an aorta tear (which is in his heart), multiple broken teeth, and a bitten tongue.
